Suffolk Churches Ride and Stride

Teresa writes ‘This year, what we’ve previously known as the Sponsored Churches Cycle Ride – but which has included walkers in recent years – will take place on Saturday 9th September. Sponsor forms and maps are available in the church porch. Churches taking part in Felixstowe are quite close together, and can be accessed easily by walking, so if you do not ride a bike why not take a Saturday walk around Felixstowe and make money for your church? Half the money collected comes to the parish, and half to the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust, which makes repair grants to churches of all denominations. Or if you fancy a country walk, booklets are available linking the country churches nearby. For more details contact Teresa Doran.

Fr.John adds – ‘ I’m hoping this year to lead an all-age walk around the Felixstowe churches, maybe an hour before a picnic lunch together, and then a couple of hours afterwards.   In a week or two’s time, I will produce a map showing the route, and giving the anticipated times. Then you can join in for any part of the walk that you would like to do. As Teresa says, this is an excellent way of raising some money for our cash-strapped parish. The vital thing is that you take a sponsor form, and begin straight away asking your friends to sponsor you!’
