PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO WALSINGHAM

At the last meeting of the Parish Advisory Council, support was expressed for having a Parish Pilgrimage to Walsingham as part of our observing of the Holy Year of Mercy. I've been in touch with the Shrine, and it seems that the best day for this would be Saturday, August 6th - the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord. A coach would leave here at around 9.0am, so that we were in time for the Confessions from 11.0am, and the Concelebrated Mass at Noon. After lunch we could pass through the Holy Door, and visit the village if we wish to do so. Please put this date in your diary - something to look forward to.

SAINTS HELPING US TODAY

THE CAFE COURSE BEGINS TOMORROW!

Do try to come to all or any of the four CAFE Course evenings : each one is complete in itself. We begin by looking at the life of St.Francis of Assisi, and by asking what he can teach us today about how to live our lives as Christian disciples.

The Course is part of the New Evangelisation. And what is that, you might ask. Isn't evangelisation - spreading the good news of the Gospel - as old as the Faith itself? Well what is 'new' about the new evangelisation is that whereas in the past have sought to share their faith with people to whom the Faith is completely unknown, we now need to evangelise vast numbers of people who are baptized, but who have lost touch with the Church - the countless lapsed Catholics, amongst whom may be family members and neighbours. Events such as the CAFE course give us an opportunity to 're-introduce' such people to the life of the Church in a friendly way. So try to bring someone with you to the Course beginning on Monday - someone who has drifted away, and whom God might be wanting you to help return! Please seize the opportunity!
