Transport for the Chrism Mass Fiona writes

'The Parish is looking into hiring a coach to take parishioners to the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral at 7.0pm on Tuesday 11th April. Pick-up would be from the Convent in Orwell Road at 4.30pm, returning there afterwards at approx. 11.0pm. The cost (subsidized by the Parish) would be 10 per person, payable on the day. You would need to bring a packed tea to eat on the coach. If you would like to go, please sign your name on the paper on the Noticeboard in St.Felix' Porch, or in the Porch at the Convent by the weekend of Lent III (18th/19th March).'

LENT IS UNDERWAY!

Well underway! - there was a good attendance at all three of the Masses on Ash Wednesday, when it was very nice to see a number of our young people at the 7.30pm Mass. Also a surpris- ing number of our first Parish Lent Calendars have been taken, and are hopefully now in daily use.

The Lenten evenings LISTENING TO JESUS begin on Tuesday this week. We listen so much to the media and to other people - to say nothing of listening to ourselves - that it is good that this Lent we should turn aside and seek to hear Our Lord speaking to us. As I mentioned in an earlier Newsheet, these sessions will fall into two parts. First, in groups, we will discuss together what Jesus is saying to us in the Gospel for the previous Sunday, and then we will come together in silence before the Blessed Sacrament to hear what he is saying to us in the depths of our own heart. Don't be put off by the thought of twenty minutes or so of silent prayer. Just relax in the presence of the Lord, in an attentive way - receptive to anything which Jesus may chose to put into your mind. The important thing will not be what YOU say or think, but just your BEING with the Lord, your mind and heart open to him. It requires faith ; it also nurtures faith.

I'm looking forward to Stations of the Cross this afternoon. It is a moving devotion, involving our body (moving from Station to Station and singing), our mind (meditating on the subject of each Station) and our soul (as we pray).
