Joy to thee O Queen of Heaven, Alleluia!

He whom thou wast meet to bear, Alleluia!

As he promised hath arisen, Alleluia!

Pour for us to Him thy prayer, Alleluia!

V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, Alleluia!

R. For the Lord is risen indeed, Alleluia!

Let us pray.

O God, who by the Resurrection of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, hast vouchsafed to bring joy to the whole world, grant, we beseech thee, that aided by the prayers of his Mother the Virgin Mary, we too may come to the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

RIP We were sad to hear of the death of Loris Squirrell, who in earlier days was much involved in the life of the parish, and indeed of the Church at large. Her Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, June 13th at 10.0am. We send our love and sympathy to Vicky, and to her brothers and sisters. Betty Cuthbertson was a more recent parishioners, who died on the same day. Our condolences to Peter, who comes to the 6.0pm Mass on Saturdays. Betty's Funeral Mass will be on Monday June 19th at 1.30pm.

Money Matters Last Sunday 502.52 was given at the Offertory, and 184.25 for CAFOD. The CWL made a kind donation of 130 following their 40th Anniversary celebrations here a week last Saturday. Today there is a retiring collection for the Catholic Communications network.

Last Sunday the Chairman of the Parish Council, Philip Dance, spoke at the end of each Mass about our current financial position - namely the fact that for some years our annual expenditure has far outstripped our income - which is a serious matter. Philip now writes 'Fellow parishioners, I would like to thank you for listening to the message on the parish finances last week. It is never easy to pitch for additional money, especially at a time when personal budgets are stretched for many in our community. I hope that all of you have given this opportunity to increase your weekly contribution some thought. If you feel that you can increase your contribution and are a tax payer you may find paying monthly by direct debit an easier option than finding odd amounts to fill your envelopes each week. If you would like to switch to direct debit please ask me, Kate Pinto, or Alan Lamberton for more information, or let Fr.John know.'

Catholic Women's League Barbara writes 'You are invited to a Pudding Evening on Monday June 12th, 7.0pm, at 'Lamberton Towers', 8, Knights Close. Try lots of puddings and vote for your favourite. There will also be a tombola. Tickets 2 from Barbara Lamberton.'

Calling all 13-29 year olds - what do you think?

Hamish, the Diocesan Youth Officer, writes 'Next year, Bishops from all over the world will gather to consider the issue of 'Young People, Faith, and Vocational Discernment'. Our bishops in England have asked that as many young people as possible aged 13-29 take part in a poll to ensure what they are discussing is relevant and important. Please see to take part.'

Grand Summer Raffle Jenny writes 'This year we are going to have a change. There will be NO grand raffle at Christmas, just this one, which will be drawn on Saturday 15th July during a social event. This is a really easy way to raise money for parish funds, so please try to sell as many tickets as you can to family and friends. Tickets are still only 1 a book. The first prize is 100, plus at least 15 more prizes. We will start handing tickets out on 3rd June. Once you have sold them please return the counterfoils & cash either to a member of Team Felix or through the Presbytery door. I will also be putting up lists appealing for raffle prizes. If you can help in this way, please put your name on the list. Any queries please contact Jenny.

The Confirmation The weather was perfect, and many people commented on what a joyful occasion the Confirmation was. Congratulations to the eleven people who were Confirmed. The Bishop seemed to much enjoy his visit to Felixstowe, and it was good to have him with us again. Many thanks to our Servers, Musicians, and most especially to Team Felix for laying on very good refreshments in the Hall afterwards.

Three weeks today we will be celebrating Corpus Christi, our great annual thanksgiving for the wonderful gift of the Most Holy Sacrament, in which we both worship and receive Our Lord Jesus Christ. This year I'm keen that we should keep an all-night Vigil before Our Lord, as an act of thanksgiving for all the gifts and graces which we have received from Him in the Blessed Sacrament. The Saturday 6.0pm will be a Mass of Exposition, and then the Vigil will continue until just before the 9.30am Mass on Sunday morning. I think that great spiritual benefits will accrue to the parish by the making this offering of praise and prayer.

A rota will soon be appearing on the notice board. We should aim at having at least three people watching at any one time throughout the night. I hope that our generosity in this will be some answer to the wonderful generosity of Jesus.
