PARISH NOTICE BOARD

Money Matters Last Sunday 444.61 was given at the Offertory, and 111.55 for CAFOD. On Good Friday there will be the usual retiring collection for the Holy Land Shrines. Next Sunday the Offertory collection goes to the Parish Priest, as a basic element of his annual income.

Easter Spring Clean John writes 'Brass-cleaning will take place on Tuesday 27th March from 10.40am. All are welcome to help - please bring some cleaning rags.

Church Cleaning will take place on Thursday 29th March from 9.20am (after Morning Prayer). Members of all three cleaning teams are asked to assist on this date if at all possible.'

Volunteers - twelve volunteers to be precise - are needed for the Foot-washing ceremony at the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Thursday. It's very simple - you stay in your place (at a bench-end), and just have one foot washed by the priest. Please sign-up on the list on the notice-board.

Chrism Mass Fiona writes 'Please would those who have signed up for the Chrism Mass next Tuesday meet outside the Convent by 4.20pm The coach will be leaving at 4.30pm, and cannot wait for late comers. The cost (payable on the day) is 10 per person. Please bring a packed tea with you. Eating on the coach is not permitted, but we should arrive at the Cathedral in time for you to eat there before beginning the one hour fast before Holy Communion.'

(Fr.John adds - if illness or some other emergency prevents you from coming, please inform me immediately, as there may be a waiting list.)

Doug and Jenny 'We are happy to report that after just over ten weeks in hospital Doug is now making a slow but steady recovery at home. We are very grateful for the support we have had from so many people in the parish, particularly from those who have offered and given lifts to Jenny to make it possible for her to visit Doug, and for all the kind thoughts and prayers which most certainly helped to promote his recovery.'

Association of the Family of Jesus and Mary

Elizabeth writes 'Our Lenten Day of Reflection had to be cancelled, but Fr.David Bagstaff has kindly agreed to lead a Day of Reflection for us on Saturday 28th April, at the Convent. As before the Day will start at 10.0am and end at 3.45pm.

Programmes and booking forms will be available at the Convent and at St.Felix.

Members are reminded that our Easter Celebration will be on Wednesday 18th April at 7.30pm at the Convent.'

O COME LET US ADORE HIM

During this Holy Week and at Easter we will be looking at Jesus, and remembering all that he has done for us, in both his dying and in his rising. We will be looking at him with love, with adoration. He is our God, and also our Friend ; power and glory are his, and yet he loves and cares about each one of us, with that immensity of love contained within his Most Sacred Heart.

If we love someone, and if we want to love them more, then it is natural to want to be with them. To want to be where they are, to look at them, and spend time with them. Jesus is present in the Blessed Sacrament in a most wonderful and true way : He is there to be worshipped and adored, there for us to come to him and spend time with him. Despite three years of teaching, I feel that I have failed to evoke this awareness in the parish. The weekly time of Adoration on Tuesday mornings is consistently badly attended. Maybe there should be more times of Exposition. And so next Sunday there will be a rota on the notice-board, relating to a daily time of Exposition for Adoration, 2.0pm-3.0pm. We will see what happens. Please pray about it. An offering of love and devotion to the risen Christ.
