Anniversaries this week Peter O'Connor (2013), William Twomey (2015), and Elsie Barratt (2011). May they Rest in Peace.

Money Matters Last Sunday 764.30 was given at the Offertory, and a further 131.05 was given to CAFOD. Today the Offertory is given to the Parish Priest, as a basic constituent of his annual pay.

From our Gift Aid Officer Alan Lamberton writes 'The Diocesan Finance Office will soon submit the claim for the refund of tax paid on Gift Aid donations made to the church. If any parishioner who has signed Gift Aid donations no longer pays income tax on salary, pension, or investment income, would they please inform me. If we try to claim a refund on taxes not paid we may invalidate the claim of the whole diocese. If any Gift Aid donor has changed their address since signing the Gift Aid form, would they also please notify me. We are required to keep accurate records of donors. Thank you for your assistance.'

From Hamish McQueen, Director of Diocesan Youth Service. Hamish writes 'All young people in Year 8 upwards are invited to the Ignite Festival May 5th-6th. Come and experience your faith in a new and dynamic way at the Ignite Festival. The weekend will include powerful talks, passionate prayer, live music, and lots of fun stuff including sumo suit wrestling! We are particularly pleased to welcome Gabby and Paige from the TV show Bad Habits, Holy Orders. Organised by the Diocesan Youth Service. See

www.ignitefestival.co.uk for more information.

Together Club Teresa writes 'The Together Club meets this Thursday at the Convent, 2.0pm-4.0pm. Pat will be coming along with her flower arranging.'

ADORING THE RISEN CHRIST

Last week I wrote about the joy and privilege of adoring the Risen Christ, present in the Holy Sacrament, and during times of Exposition displayed in the Monstrance placed on the Altar.

How wonderful to be in Our Lord's sacramental presence, to relax in that presence, and gaze upon the Host which, whilst maintaining the appearance of wafer-bread, is truly the Body of the Lord!

This week, as we celebrate the Easter Octave, the seven days after Easter Sunday which share in its dignity, the Blessed Sacrament will be present upon a side Altar at St.Felix for silent adoration, 2.0pm-3.0pm. I use the word 'relax' advisedly. "How would I be able to think of things to say to God for a whole hour?" No need to. Just be there - it is about being with Jesus rather than necessarily speaking to Jesus. When we know and love people very well we don't have to be speaking to them all the time. We are happy just to be with them. Eucharistic adoration is like that. 'Being still in the presence of the Lord'.

There is a rota on the noticeboard to sign up to spend this hour with Jesus. Wouldn't you like to give him one hour of your time as we celebrate his Resurrection? The aim is to have at least two people watching at any one time. I hope to be there myself this week too.

BLESS THIS HOUSE

Earlier this year, in one of his excellent Pastoral Letters, the bishop urged us to have our houses blessed in the course of the year. So far only two people in the parish have available themselves of the opportunity. Easter is a traditional time for house-blessing. So why not request it during the fifty days of Eastertide which are now beginning? There's no charge, and the house doesn't need to be tidy.
